Authorities Discover Body of Toddler Missing After Italian Floods

Authorities in Italy announced on October 12 the discovery of a body several days after a two-year-old boy went missing in Catanzaro, amid severe flooding in the south of the country.

The boy was traveling with his mother and seven-year-old brother when their car was swept away by floodwaters on October 4 in the San Pietro Lametino area of Catanzaro. The bodies of his mother and brother were later recovered by emergency personnel.

Italy’s fire service, the Vigili del Fuoco, said it conducted more than 450 rescue operations due to flooding and landslides in Catanzaro.

Severe rainfall was set to continue on October 12, with several weather alerts in place across Italy.
