Maggie hasn’t had the easiest of starts in life. She and her mother were hit by a car in southeast Queensland, and the pair were then placed in the care of Wildcare Australia Inc.
“She was thrown from her mother’s pouch on impact and by some miracle was spotted on the side of the road by another passing motorist,” the charity’s president Karen Scott told Storyful.
After sustaining a fractured jaw and skull from the impact, the joey struggled to feed from her mother, who was also rescued but who has since been returned to the wild.
An update shared by the charity on January 1 says that Maggie was “doing so well” and doing a great job of lifting the charity volunteers’ spirits. Credit: Wildcare Australia Inc via Storyful
