'Blanket of Smoke' Covers Southern California Amid Wildfires

Smoke emitted by fires burning in southern California could be seen in satellite imagery taken on the morning of September 23, researchers said.

Nine fires were active in the state as of Thursday, including the record-setting Dixie Fire, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
