Cambodia villagers cope with flood aftermath

Fields were inundated and water levels in rivers remained high on Friday (October 23), local media reported.

At least 593,052 acres of farmland have been flooded, affecting over 245,000 people across the country.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered local authorities to mobilize assistance to those affected.

The ongoing floods have killed dozens across Southeast Asia since early October.

The region suffered particularly heavy rainfall amidst the onset of the La Niña weather phenomenon, which is characterized by unusually cold temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
