Crews Clear Snow After Severe Blizzard in Newfoundland and Labrador

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador said military personnel would be deployed to help the recovery and cleanup efforts after a large blizzard hit the state over the weekend.

Canadian Armed Forces Operations confirmed that forces would be deployed to “assist with snow removal, provide residents with transportation to warming or emergency centers, and ensure the elderly and those with health concerns are cared for.”

A state of emergency remained in effect for the city of St. John’s on Sunday, January 19, though some restrictions were temporarily lifted.
