Damaging Flooding and Landslides Strike Lake Como Area

Torrential rain brought floods and landslides to communities on the banks of Italy’s Lake Como on July 27, with footage showing damaged cars, debris and floodwater pouring onto a street in the town of Brienno.

Several rescues were carried out throughout the day, Italy’s fire service said.

The Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata reported that a gas leak in Brienno caused by a landslide forced around 50 people to stay inside their homes. No deaths or injuries had been recorded, Euronews reported.
