Endangered Mountain Pygmy Possum Curls Itself Into Tiny Ball of Cuteness

In the lead-up to National Threatened Species Day on September 7, conservationists with Zoos Victoria showcased an adorable Mountain Pygmy possum as it curled into a little ball while cupped in a keeper’s hands.

In a video posted to Facebook, the little possum is seen lapping up a treat before curling up into what can only be described as a bundle of joy.

The species are critically endangered, with fewer than 2000 left in the wild. The tiny marsupials are found in snowy regions near Mt Hotham and Mt Buller in Victoria and Mt Kosciuszko in New South Wales, and hibernate for up to seven months of the year.

Zoos Victoria said they wanted to shine a spotlight on the possums “in all their adorableness.” Credit: Zoos Victoria via Storyful
