Fire Brigade Surveys Flooding Damage in Southern Austria

Roads, fields, and buildings were underwater in Treffen am Ossiacher See, Austria, on June 29, as one person was found dead and another remained missing following floods and landslides.

Footage recorded by Freiwillige Feuerwehr Tiffen (the Tiffen Volunteer Fire Department) shows extensive flooding in Treffen am Ossiacher See, located in Carinthia.

National media reported that an 82-year-old man was found dead around noon on Wednesday. Another person remained missing after making an emergency call at 4 am.

Evacuations were carried out on Wednesday in the towns of Arriach and Laastadt, which were at high risk of landslide. Some houses in Arriach were inaccessible.
