Firefighters Gain Upper Hand Against North Carolina Fire

Firefighters contained 50 percent of a wildfire burning in western North Carolina by Wednesday morning, April 1, and said the blaze was no longer threatening any structures, local media reported. The fire broke out in Black Mountain on March 31, quickly swelling to 500 acres on the mountainside above the town.
