Flooding Spreads on North Side of Conway

Flood waters spread into northern Conway, South Carolina, neighborhoods on Sunday, September 23, flowing out of Crab Tree Swamp, which meanders from the Waccamaw River into rural Horry County northwest of the city.

The Waccamaw River is expected to crest in Conway at 22 feet on Tuesday after passing the 20-foot mark by early Sunday afternoon. The flooding from Hurricane Florence has already topped the river’s previous record, 17.9 feet set by Hurricane Matthew’s floods in 2016.
