Giant Ice Mounds Stranded on Shores of St Lawrence River

Giant mounds of ice and snow have been washed up on the shores of the St Lawrence River in Quebec amid the first signs of Spring. The Canadian coast guard commenced ice-breaking operations along the waterway at the start of the week, aiming for its official opening in early April.

A photographer from the Quebec’s western town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts set out to illustrate the sheer enormity of the ice mounds by standing next to one in this video taken on March 27. Credit: YouTube/Dan Comeau
