Gills Creek Floods Columbia Neighborhoods

The storm that dumped nearly two feet of rain on the South Carolina coast moved inland on October 4. Columbia suffered a foot of rain, according to local media, which triggered widespread flooding.

Authorities asked people to stay indoors and avoid the flooding, though many needed to be evacuated. Emergency shelters were open throughout the region. Many roads were closed, including interstate highways around the capital city.
