Instanbul film festival wrap up

“The 33rd Istanbul Film Festival came to an end after 15 days of movies, film makers and cinema,” said Euronews correspondent Wolfgang Spindler. The Jury awarded The Golden Tulip in the international competition to the Norwegian film “Blind.” The film centers around a women who became blind. During the complex movie she has to reconstruct her life. It is director Eskil Vogt’s first feature film. He said: “In the begining it was just the idea of blindness as being something you can do very exciting things in cinema with. It was almost a playful idea and of course I met people who lost their sight, I was doing research and the human tragedy of blindness also became part of the story.” The best film in the Turkısh national competition, “I Am Not Him” was awarded with a Golden Tulip. The movie is about a middle aged man who meets a women whose husband is in prison, slowly the man slips into the role of the imprisoned husband. The film was also awarded for best music and best screenplay.
