Israel suspends peace talks after Fatah-Hamas unity deal

Israel has suspended peace talks with the Palestinians following the announcement of a unity deal between Fatah and Hamas. The decision came after a meeting of Israel’s security cabinet. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of not wanting peace. It now seems to be the end of a nine-month initiative set in motion by US Secretary of State John Kerry. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said the Fatah-Hamas deal makes a peace agreement “impossible.”
