Medals of bravery awarded to animals who died in wars

“Animals in War & Peace Medal of Bravery” were awarded posthumously to animals who passed while serving in the armed forces of the United States.

The medals, which will be presented by members of Congress, will be awarded to pigeons that served in World War One and World War Two, a horse that served in the Korean War, and dogs that served in World War Two, the Vietnam War, and the ware in Afghanistan.
