Motorists Stranded in Skykomish as Heavy Snow Shuts Down Stevens Pass Highway

Motorists were stranded on Highway 2 and the Stevens Pass Highway in Skykomish, Washington, late on January 12 as severe weather caused power outages and downed trees, "the National Weather Service said.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said they closed the road on Sunday as there was a risk of more trees falling.

Stevens Pass and Highway 2 were still closed in both directions as of approximately 10.15 am local time Monday, though a “caravan of buses and cars were allowed through after they were stuck in Skykomish overnight,” Q13’s Omar Lewis reported.
