US President Barack Obama urged unity in his final weekly address from the White House on January 14, reflecting on the positives of his time in office while touching on some of the worst moments, from the Boston bombings to the Charleston shooting.

“All of us, regardless of party, should throw ourselves into the work of citizenship,” he said, warning that people should avoid following their “own narrow interests.” He urged people to get involved in politics if they wished to see changes.
