Obama Outlines Plan to Curb Greenhouse Gases

US President Barack Obama described climate change as a “reality that we’re living with every day” on Monday, during a speech setting out his plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants. Obama said that “14 of the 15 warmest years on record have fallen within the first 15 years of this century,” and said that he wanted to commit America to “leading the world” on climate change.

The plan aims to cut carbon dioxide emission by almost one third from 2005 levels before 2030, according to The White House. Credit: Facebook/The White House
