Obama Warns of a 'Planet Beyond Our Children's Capacity to Repair' at GLACIER Conference

US President Barack Obama stressed the urgency of tackling climate change on Monday, August 31, at the GLACIER conference in Alaska. Obama said climate change was “already disrupting our agriculture and ecosystem, our water and food supplies, our energy, our infrastructure, human health, human safety.” He said it was “a trend that affects all trends – economic trends, security trends, everything will be impacted.”

Obama also criticized politicians who say climate change isn’t real. He said they were “on their own shrinking island.” He warned that “if we stop trying to build a clean-energy economy and reduce carbon pollution … we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair.” Credit: The White House
