Paris zoo welcomes newborn animals

Paris zoo welcomed newborn puma

Mother Maeli gave birth to a baby cub

who is yet to be named

The newborn still has its eyes closed

and will only open them in 10-15 days

The Paris Zoological Park also welcomed

Naya, the baby sea lion

She is the first Patagonian sea lion

born in a zoo in France

(SOUNDBITE) (French) SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR AT PARIS ZOOLOGICAL PARK, ALEXIS LECU, SAYING:

"The babies are doing very well, they are not all the same age. The little puma still has his eyes closed, so he hasn't really discovered the world yet, that will happen in the days to come. We have the sea lion who is almost the oldest of the three babies, who has already learned how to swim, to dive deep, and to regulate his breathing. It's nice to see her learn that because, despite what one may think, baby sea lions are at risk of drowning, so the mother pays close attention to this, and so do we."
