Police Finish Forensic Dig at Missing Person Lyn Dawson's Bayview Home

Police concluded their search on September 17 of the grounds at the one-time home of missing Bayview mother, Lyn Dawson, whose disappearance three decades ago has come under new scrutiny thanks to the popular true crime podcast The Teacher’s Pet.

This footage shows the excavation of the property in Sydney’s northern beaches. According to Australian reporter David Murray, officers excavated the area around the pool, drained the septic tank, searched three backyard areas and used a blood detection dog. Nothing was uncovered.

Lyn Dawson went missing in 1982 and her disappearance was not reported to the police for six weeks. Her husband, rugby league player and teacher Chris Dawson, has previously been named by police as a suspect in her disappearance.

It’s alleged that shortly after his wife went missing, Chris Dawson moved a student of his, who he was involved with romantically, into the family home.
