Police Warn Residents to Stay Home Amid Severe Weather in Ontario

Police in eastern Ontario warned residents to stay at home on Thursday, January 21, as heavy snow brought hazardous travel conditions.

Environment Canada issued several winter weather warnings and alerts for Ontario on Thursday, including snow squall watches and winter weather advisories for Central Ontario and a snowfall warning for the north.

This footage was shared to the Facebook page of Ontario Provincial Police, who said it was captured on Highway 11 in the North Bay area on Thursday morning.

“I was driving 50km/h [30 mph] with a transport in front of me in the dark this morning. A moose ran out and the truck was able to get stopped in these conditions because of his speed!” an Ontario official wrote on Facebook, encouraging drivers to go slow.
