Pope Francis arrives in Uganda

Pope Francis has arrived in Uganda on the second leg of his three-nation African tour. Tens of thousands of people lined his route into the Ugandan capital of Kampala in some of the biggest crowds of his trip so far. Earlier in the day he visited a slum in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, where he urged the government to do more to lift people from what he called “wounds inflicted” by a wealthy and powerful elite. Francis has long fought for the poor worldwide, both in public and in private. The pontiff earlier scrapped a prepared script to address a packed Nairobi stadium with his down to earth style urging people to take a stand against tribalism, corruption and drugs. “I ask myself, can we justify corruption just by the mere fact that everyone is corrupt? How can we be Christians and overcome this evil of corruption?,” asked the pope.
