Portland Activists Hang From Bridge to Block Shell Ship

Protesters in Portland, Oregon, dangled from Portland’s St. Johns bridge and blocked the waterway with kayaks on July 29, in an attempt to block the passage of oil-giant Shell’s arctic icebreaker, scheduled to return to an oil drilling fleet in Alaska. The icebreaker, MSV Fennica, was in Portland for repairs. Footage shows some activists suspended from the 400ft bridge, while others hold signs in kayaks in the river. Credit: Twitter/Connor Devane
