Reluctant Horse Among Animals Rescued From California's Valley Fire
It’s not just humans who’ve been evacuating from areas affected by the Valley Fire in San Diego County: a local humane society has been operating too, counting horses, ponies, alpacas, and goats among the animals rescued by its teams.
It’s a stressful time for everyone, the San Diego Humane Society said on Facebook, alongside video of one reluctant horse that was taken to safety from Mother Grundy Truck Trail in Jamul on the night of September 6-7.
A second clip from the society shows the fire blocking the way for three of its rescue teams, who were forced to turn back.
The Valley Fire had grown to over 17,000 acres and was 3 percent contained by September 8.
