Rescued Bats Continue Recovery With Introduction to Corn on the Cob

A trio of baby bats being cared for by a Queensland woman continued their road to release back into the wild by getting to grips with how to eat corn on the cob, video shared to YouTube shows.

The footage was posted online by Queensland-based Denise Wade, who has been caring for injured baby bats for more than a decade.

In the footage, posted on March 15, Wade describes how “this is the first time our little orphans have tried corn on the cob”.

In her caption for the video, Wade explains, “It might seem an odd choice to include in a flying fox diet but our bats in care absolutely adore cooked corn on the cob.”

The footage shows that one of the trio, in particular, seems to have really taken to the corn.

Attending to the injured bats at her home in Rochedale South, Wade regularly shares updates on the animals to her Batzilla the Bat YouTube and Facebook pages. Credit: Batzilla the Bat via Storyful
