Sea Turtles Released into the Gulf of Mexico as Part of Conservation Program

Two sea turtles were released back into the ocean by a conservation organisation in Marathon, Florida, video shared online showed.

This footage, filmed by the Turtle Hospital, shows two juvenile loggerhead sea turtles, Ethel and Lucy, being transported into the Florida Keys, where they are then released.

According to the organisation’s website, both Ethel and Lucy are part of the ‘Head Start’ program which “helps to increase wild sea turtle populations, as only 1 in 600 survive the first few years of life”. Credit: The Turtle Hospital via Storyful
