Six Orangutans Released Into Wild Following Years of Rehabilitation

A group of orangutans was released back into the wild in Indonesia on February 14 after years of rehabilitation at International Animal Rescue’s (IAR) orangutan conservation center in Ketapang, West Kalimantan.

Video and photos of the orangutans’ release were shared by IAR on February 19, showing Maili, Osin, Lady, Obi, Muria and Zoya react to their new freedom in Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park.

Maili and her infant, Osin, had previously been released in July 2018, but Maili became ill and had to be brought back to the conservation center for treatment.
