Smoke Rolls Over California's Travis Air Force Base

Smoke rolled over the flight line at Travis Air Force Base near Fairfield, California, on September 28. Wildfires burning across the state caused the hazy conditions and for air-quality warnings to be issued.

According to reports, air quality was a concern through Thursday, October 1, and winds had slowed, causing the smoke to linger.

Spare the Air reported “unhealthy” conditions on Thursday in the Fairfield region.

Fire crews in Northern California were continuing to battle a number of wildfires, including the Glass Fire, which had grown to 56,781 acres – about 89 square miles – and was only 5 percent contained as of Thursday, according to Cal Fire. Credit: DVIDS via Storyful
