Snow Storm Blankets Palms in Las Vegas

A rare winter storm blanketed Las Vegas, Nevada, with snow on Wednesday, February 20, covering the city’s famous Strip and its desert palms.

The National Weather Service measured between one and two inches in the Las Vegas Valley, breaking snowfall records on the day.

On Thursday morning, the weather service also said 7.5 inches had fallen in Summerlin, a couple of miles northwest of Rainbow Park, and reported up to 14 inches in Kingman, Arizona, about 80 miles southeast of Las Vegas.

As a result, a number of highways as well as the Red Rock Canyon Conservation area closed for the day. Credit: City of Las Vegas via Storyful
