St John's Residents Form Long Lines as Grocery Stores Reopen After Storm

Long lines formed at grocery stores in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Tuesday, January 21, as grocery stores reopened in the city following a record-breaking blizzard.

A state of emergency, put into effect on Friday, remained in place on Tuesday after a blizzard brought a record 30 inches of snow to the city over the weekend. Grocery stores were allowed to open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, with officials asking people to limit their travel and use carpooling to allow for emergency vehicles and recovery crews to operate effectively.
