Storm Damage and Power Outages Affect Houston in Wake of Nicholas

Houston residents were grappling with damage and power outages on Wednesday, September 15, in the wake of Tropical Storm Nicholas.

Video posted on September 14 shows an awning at a local car wash downed during the storm, which hit coastal Texas as a hurricane before being downgraded to a tropical storm as it neared the Houston area.

The National Hurricane Center further downgraded Nicholas to a tropical depression later on that day.

The center warned on Wednesday that life-threatening flash floods were expected across portions of the Deep South in the days ahead.
