Suspect Wanted for Smashing Religious Statues in Brooklyn

Police in New York have appealed for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for a hate crime after he was filmed pushing over statues outside a Catholic church in Brooklyn in the early hours of December 2.

Footage of the incident, filmed outside Our Lady of Consolation Church on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, shows a man approaching three statues. They depict the Blessed Virgin, flanked by two other figures, one of which is an angel. The man pushes over the statue on the left, before toppling the angel.
