Torrential downpour floods central Pennsylvania towns

A storm battered parts of the East Coast on July 17, flooding towns across New England and the Mid-Atlantic region.

This video, filmed by Misty Sosobee on Hanover Street in Carlisle, central Pennsylvania, shows cars ploughing through the flooded road.

Delays were reported from Boston, New York and Philadelphia airports, with over 3,000 flights delayed and 2,000 cancelled. Train services were also widely affected due to flooded subway stations, and households were left without electricity after power lines were downed.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood watches for areas covering nearly 30 million people, according to local media.
