US recognises its role in creating climate change

US President Barack Obama told a meeting for foreign ministers in Alaska that world leaders must agree to cut carbon emissions at a UN summit planned for December in Paris. Obama said the Alaska had “some of the swiftest shoreline erosion rates in the world” which threaten coastal villages. “I have come here today as the leader of the world’s largest economy and its second largest emitter, to say that the United States recognises our role in creating this problem and we embrace our responsibility to help solve it,” said Obama. “And the fact is that climate is changing faster than our efforts to address it. That, ladies and gentlemen, must change. We are not acting fast enough,” Obama added. .POTUS just spoke in Alaska about climate change, but he didn't mention Arctic oil drilling. http://t.co/zw6Keq5wQa pic.twitter.com/10vXFe0tfU— Greenpeace USA (greenpeaceusa) September 1, 2015 Meanwhile Dutch newspaper Trouw reports the EU member state’s government will appeal against a district court ruling .. to cut greenhouse emissions faster than currently planned.
