Firefighters have recovered the bodies of six children who died in a fire in northeast Baltimore early Thursday morning, and three other children and their mother were taken to a hospital. The fire started just after 12:30 a.m. on Springwood Avenue, off Bel Air Road. Arriving crews found flames coming from all three floors of the home. Smoke continued to billow from the roof at noon. By the time firefighters got to the scene three minutes after the initial call, the fire had become so intense that the third floor collapsed.
