Villagers stranded in India's flood-hit Assam

STORY: Houses remained submerged, and areas heavily flooded in Morigaon district on Saturday (July 2) due to the disaster that has displaced more than 4.5 million people.

People living in makeshift shelters said they had lost everything in the floods.

"Our fields, crops have submerged in water. Our house is inundated. Now this road is our home," said a flood victim, Sanjay Mandal, who has been living in makeshift tents for the past month.

Assam has reported floods each year in recent times.
