Damaging wildfires that spread from July 21 through areas of central Portugal were under control by July 23, but officials warned that new fires could ignite due continued high temperatures, Portuguese media reported.

Portugal’s National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority warned on Tuesday that the risk of fires would increase.
