Wildfires Under Control in Central Portugal, But Officials Warn of Ongoing Risk

Damaging wildfires that spread from July 21 through areas of central Portugal were under control by July 23, but officials warned that new fires could ignite due continued high temperatures, Portuguese media reported.

This footage shows fires burning in various areas of Santarém district on Tuesday, July 22.

Portugal’s National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority warned on Tuesday that the risk of fires would increase.
