Make-A-Wish Foundation Brings Texas Boy to Colorado to Fulfill Snowman Dream

Make-A-Wish America partnered with Macy’s to send a four-year-old Texas boy with congenital heart disease to Colorado on Wednesday, December 11, to see snow and make a snowman for the first time.

Macy’s teamed up with Make-A-Wish to celebrate weekly “Wish Wednesdays,” where the companies work together to grant and celebrate various wishes for children with critical illnesses. Make-A-Wish said four-year-old Brantley is “fascinated” by snowmen and draws a snowman for the receptionist “every time he visits the doctor.”

This video chronicles Brantley’s journey from Dallas, where it rarely gets below freezing, to the renowned ski town of Breckenridge, Colorado, for his winter experience. Brantley first meets Santa Claus at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters in Dallas. The boy tours the airline’s Network Operations Control room as he learns about flight patterns and snowfall across the nation.

Santa later announces Brantley’s wish to cheering passengers aboard a Colorado-bound plane. Brantley, decked out in holiday garb, finally arrives at the Denver International Airport, where he was given new winter clothes and a snowman-building kit.

Photos posted on Thursday show Brantley posing with Santa and a snowman in snowy Breckenridge, Colorado.

The collective effort to get Brantley to Colorado included resources from Macy’s Believe letter-writing campaign, Make-A-Wish employees, and Southwest Airlines staff. The Macy’s Believe campaign encourages people to send letters to Santa, with the company donating $1 per letter — up to $1 million total — to help Make-A-Wish grant wishes.
