“The View”'s Alyssa Farah Griffin reveals cohosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines helping her through IVF: 'I've been a wreck'

The View cohost and former Donald Trump associate Alyssa Farah Griffin has the support of the Hot Topics table as she undergoes IVF treatments along her pregnancy journey.

The 35-year-old former White House communications staffer revealed to series producer Brian Teta on Monday's episode of the talk show's Behind the Table podcast that she and her husband Justin Griffin want to start a family, and that she's navigating IVF cycles to do so.

"My husband and I have been hoping, trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half, and it wasn't happening naturally, so we made the decision to move forward with IVF. This is my second cycle, so, tomorrow I will be in the doctor's office dealing with that," Griffin said, adding that she might be absent from Tuesday's live broadcast as a result. "I wanted to share it for a couple of reasons. I had no idea at my age how hard this actually would be. I'm only 35 and, to me, I was like, I've got plenty of time, this won't be that difficult. I'm healthy, I work out, I eat right. My body was just not cooperating."

Griffin said she was so committed to staying on schedule amid the IVF process that she was giving herself "IVF injections at midnight at CNN on election night and working until four in the morning," and "felt fine" afterward.

"I didn't cry, I didn't have meltdowns, I didn't feel hormonal swings. I think I got kind of cocky, because, the second cycle, I've been a wreck," she continued. "I've not felt myself, I've been tired, I've been emotional, you feel uncomfortable in your body. I just wanted to mention it because, from someone who is surprised by how hard it was, it's because all the stories of this that we hear is usually women on the other side, like, 'Here's my baby and, oh, real quick, it was kind of hard to get here.'"

She also urged to anyone considering IVF treatment that, while it might be a difficult journey, "there is a light at the end of the tunnel," even though she's not sure when that light will arrive for her and Justin.

"We'll get there and I'll keep people posted," Griffin added, noting that her cohosts have offered immeasurable support. "Sara Haines has been just beyond supportive and helpful in this process, and Sunny [Hostin] has, too. She's had her own journey with this!"

Griffin ended the revelation with a joke, quipping that she "mostly shared so if I meltdown on air, you know why!"

Hostin and Haines memorably got into a tense debate over IVF issues in February, after the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos could potentially be considered children under state law, with Hostin — who also went through IVF — telling her cohost that she felt that a frozen embryo is a baby.

Griffin, who married Justin in 2021 after resigning from Trump's White House team and subsequently speaking out against her former boss, has opened up about serious personal matters in the past, both on The View set and on the Behind the Table podcast. In May, following resurfaced video showing Diddy assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway in 2016, Griffin revealed she was previously abused in a past relationship.

"Part of this conversation I've seen since this video emerged is this question of why didn't she leave. I want to speak to that. I once was a victim of domestic abuse in a prior relationship," Griffin said at the Hot Topics table. "It happened once. I was one of the lucky ones where the power dynamics were in my favor. I could leave, I could walk away, I could remove myself from him."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC. Listen to Griffin discuss her IVF treatment on Behind the Table above.
