Sex offender back behind bars

A sex offender who was released from custody last week is back behind bars after he was charged with possessing and producing child pornography and visiting areas where children are present.

On Jan. 28th, police and school boards warned the public that Bruce Windsor, 51, was being released from a regional psychiatric centre and would be living in Edmonton.

Windsor was arrested on Wednesday and charged with new offences — two counts of possessing child pornography and several counts of breaching a parole condition by visiting places where children are present.

"He was arrested downtown. He was staying in a halfway house where he is monitored,” said police spokeswoman Clair Seyler.

“Whenever we put out a warning about a high-risk offender, we do have strict monitoring processes.”

When he was released last week, Windsor had just completed a two-year sentence for possessing child pornography, publishing child pornography and breach of probation.

Police described Windsor as a violent sex offender who posed a risk of significant harm to the community.
