Southgate Economic Development Officer Terri Murphy reports that several Southgate businesses are featured in the latest online tourism campaign from Visit Grey.
The Grey County fall tourism videos are being marketed to mid-week visitors, digitally only, she said. They’re being targeted using data collected by Environics.
Local residents can also share these videos for their favourite spots on their social media, with the hash tag Visit Grey.
One video includes Misty Meadows Market in Conn and Holstein General Store.
The other includes Spanky’s BBQ in Holstein, and Homestead Golf and Winter Resort. In Dundalk, Common Grounds cafe on Main Street appears in an appetizing vignette.
At the Visit Grey website, you can plan your trip using the links and information. There’s a link to an Outdoor Activity Map which is designed to help plan a trip that won’t disappoint.
You can see ahead of time the parks and trails that are green – meaning conditions are normal or orange – meaning the area is experiencing high traffic. In those spots, it could be hard keep to social distance guidelines. Parking lots are also may be full.
The map lets you search for the features you want, be it a trail or a restaurant.
Earlier this year, Grey county started an Outdoor Land Management Group, a public group of stakeholders who are concerned with capacity at sites, parking, and education for trail etiquette.
Since then a Re-discover Responsibly public education program has been put in place.
