VOTE: What should be our priority to combat mental illness?

January 31, 2018 marks Bell Let’s Talk Day, an initiative that strives to promote awareness and move mental health forward in Canada.

On this day, Bell will donte five cents to mental health initiatives for every text, call, tweet, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook post supporting the Let’s Talk initiative.

From 2011 to 2017, Bell has provided over $7 million in community fund grants, helped over 740,000 people access mental health care in Canada and donated over $86 million to mental health initiatives.

Bell Let’s Talk has four key pillars; anti-stigma, care and access, research and workplace health. These pillars help guide their funding and toolkits to begin the discussion on mental health. According to Bell, one in five Canadians will suffer from mental illness at some point in their life and two-thirds of those individuals never seek help.

There are lots of ways that we can support and combat mental illness in our communities, but what do you think our priority should be? Vote in the poll above and leave your thoughts in the comments.
