Wait, Why Isn’t Miley Cyrus at the Grammys?

Ladies and gentlemen, the time is upon us! It’s the 2020 Grammys, during which every musical artist you care about come together to dress in their coolest clothes and accept little gramophones on a stage. (Yes, those are called gramophones, and yes, that is what this award show is named after.) But if you were wondering where the one and only Miley Cyrus is on this lovely occasion, I’m here to answer that for you. Basically, she sat this one out.

While it is an unfortunate situation, Miley technically had no reason to be at the Grammys. She wasn’t nominated for anything! Yes, yes, that does seem like a major crime, but that explains why she isn’t in attendance this year.

If you’re not nominated for an award, you’re not performing, and you’re not presenting an award, it wouldn’t make sense for you to show up. Miley did have a great year, with the release of She Is Coming in June, but the Recording Academy didn’t recognize that with any nominations.

Miley’s been to the Grammys loads of times, obviously, but she’s only been nominated once, for Best Pop Vocal Album for 2014’s Bangerz. It’s a shame she’s not there tonight because she pretty much always brings it in the wardrobe department.
