Wakaw Town Council October Minutes

A regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Wakaw was held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Council Chambers, 121 Main St., Wakaw, SK. The members of Council present were Mayor Steve Skoworodko, Coucillors Michael Markowski, Greg Boschman, Gary Harrison, Doug Penner, Chad Parenteau, and Terry Ostafichuk. CAO Lois Gartner was also in attendance.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Skoworodko in Council Chambers at 7:00 pm.

Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting held on September 9, 2020 be approved as read. Crd.

Cllr. Penner moved that the CAO Statement of Financial Activities for the month of September 2020 be approved as read. Crd.

*Mayor Skoworodko declared a Conflict of Interest regarding item 5 and left Chambers at 9:05 pm.

Cllr. Parenteau moved that the following correspondence being dealt with be filed:

1) B & B Enforcement – Bylaw Officer Report

2) SHE Can Boutique

3) Government of Saskatchewan – Safe Restart Program Funding

4) SAMA – 2021 Preliminary Values

5) Verba Ukrainian Dance Club.


*Mayor Skoworodko returned to chambers at 9:10 pm.

Cllr. Markowski moved that Council agree to revisit the situation of taxation on SHE Can located at 115 1st Street S and renegotiate a contract after April 1, 2021. Crd.

Cllr. Harrison moved that accounts in the amount of $348,073.03 be authorized for payment. Crd. [These are attached to the official minutes.]

Cllr. Parenteau moved that Council acknowledge the review of the water quality records. Crd.

Cllr. Parenteau moved that Council agree to advertise for e second Utility Worker position. Crd.

Cllr. Ostafichuk moved that Council approve the Building and Development Permit #14/20 – 107 5A St. S – Mobile home. Crd.

Cllr. Penner moved that Council approve Moving Permit #15/20 – move mobile home onto 107 5A St. S. Crd.

Cllr. Boschman moved that Council authorize a public hearing to be scheduled for November 5, 2020 @ 7:00 pm Wakaw Municipal Office, for discretionary use application C2 – Cannabis Retail Outlet #201 Highway #2, Country Crossroads. Crd.

Cllr. Parenteau moved that the meeting be adjourned at 10:30 pm. Crd.
