The 2021 Walk Your Way for Autism fundraiser has been postponed until the fall, due to ongoing public health restrictions.
The event, originally scheduled for June 12, will now be held September 25.
“The event will remain 100 per cent virtual, however we want families and friends who do not live in the same household to be able to participate together,” Rachel Whynot, Autism Support Coordinator of the South Shore Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia, explained in an email.
Moreover, she said, local businesses and teachers have created teams of up to 10 people who want to participate together. At the time of the change of date announcement recently, this was not possible.
Funds raised will go to support necessary programs and services for autistic individuals and their families.
Registration for the event remains open and those committing to participate in the event before September 3 can pick-up a limited edition t-shirt.
Last year’s September 26 event saw 76 participants with 12 teams help raise $18,700 for the local chapter.
