Walkerton business owner publishes her first book

WALKERTON – Aleasha Reich has always wanted to write a children’s book.

With Halloween being her favourite holiday, it was only natural that her book would have a Halloween theme.

The concept for the book came to her in a dream, she said – not a scary dream, but a sweet one. Her character, Willda the Witch, is kind, generous and helpful. Every Halloween, she chooses children to help with costumes.

Reich remembers how important it was for a child to have a great costume, either homemade or purchased.

The book didn’t take long to write; she started it during the first COVID lockdown. The actual editing, illustrating and publishing part was what took the time.

Now that it’s finished, Reich is already thinking about a second book. She’d like to continue with Willda and her friend Pepper, perhaps with a plot about another important day, or something that focuses on Willda’s absent-mindedness.

Reich hadn’t expected the book to be ready until August, but to her delight, it’s ready now and available for purchase.

Copies of Willda the Witch can be bought through willdathewitch.com, or at Reich’s shop, A Delicate Edge Fashion Boutique in Walkerton. Soon, copies will be available through all major booksellers.

When Reich isn’t busy celebrating her favourite holiday, Halloween, she’s a successful business owner. She’s a proud auntie, loves antique hunting, exploring the outdoors and collecting crystals.
