'WandaVision' star Teyonah Parris on her wall-breaking stunt and Monica's potentially super future

In the WandaVision series, Teyonah Parris plays S.W.O.R.D. agent Monica Rambeau and in the pivotal fourth episode, is the recipient of Wanda Maximoff's superpowers blasting her through multiple walls. Parris recently spoke with Yahoo Entertainment about the action-packed scene, and more.

"And so that scene, [Elizabeth Olsen] is very intense and I was very scared as the actor in a fun way," Parris said. "And then on a technical level, I've never been on wires before, man, that was uncomfortable."

She added that the stunt harnesses provided a new challenge for her. "[You] still try to act and have reactions that are true to the moment at hand and not what you feel digging in your butt," she said.

- Wanda, I'm just your neighbor.

- Then how did you know about Ultron?

KEVIN POLOWY: The response to this show has been nothing short of rapturous. I mean, what have been your favorite or most surprising reactions to it so far?

TEYONAH PARRIS: This is my first time in the MCU, so seeing how meticulous the fans are with each frame of the show, and even the trailers, they will find so many things. I'm like, how did you see that in such a short amount of time? So it's been really cool just trying to keep up with the fans, really.

KEVIN POLOWY: One moment in particular I need to ask you about, creator Jac Schaeffer has called it the show's red wedding moment where Wanda expels Monica straight through the wall all the way back to base after she utters the name Ultron, of course. Tell us about filming of that scene opposite Lizzie. I mean, was there a little more intensity involved that day?

TEYONAH PARRIS: Let me just talk about Lizzie. Lizzie is doing such a phenomenal job with just grounding this character and just giving us this very intimate view into her grief, and still being this badass Wanda. So that scene, yes. Lizzie is very intense, and I was very scared as the actor in a fun way, in a play way, but she's just doing such an amazing job. And then on a technical level, I've never been on wires before. Man, that was uncomfortable and very challenging to have straps in places you didn't know straps could be and still try to act and have reactions that are true to the moment at hand and not what you feel digging in your butt, so yeah.

KEVIN POLOWY: I think we've long thought Monica would end up being Captain Marvel's best friend, like mother like daughter, but you're getting hints along the way here that they might be on the outs. Can you say anything about that and sort of, like, what implications that might have going forward?

TEYONAH PARRIS: I can say that we do know that Monica will be in Captain Marvel 2 with Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan, so there's lots of real estate there for us to explore that relationship further, so I don't want to give anything away.

KEVIN POLOWY: Monica also makes a great team with Darcy and Jimmy. Initially, everybody was all about a Darcy Jimmy spin-off, but then the duo became a trio when you came back into the picture. Now everybody wants a Monica, Darcy, Jimmy team up. Have you heard this, and how are you feeling about this?

TEYONAH PARRIS: I love that people love this trio, because the amount of fun we had on set, we really did feel like a trio, just going through it all and bearing witness to the other world, which is Wanda's sitcom world. So we had a lot of fun filming it, so I'm glad that the fans feel that energy between us.

- James E. Woo, FBI.

KEVIN POLOWY: Did Randall teach you Jimmy's card trick?

TEYONAH PARRIS: No, but Randall worked really hard on that trick. So I'm glad that you all love it as much as you do, because he did-- we did see him over there walking around trying to do it, so I'm very proud and happy for him.

KEVIN POLOWY: And finally, in the comics of course, Monica becomes Photon. Have you been studying up on her just in case?

TEYONAH PARRIS: When I first got the role, I definitely was like, I want to read the comics. I want to read the source material to find out who this woman is. We know that MCU will pull from different aspects of the source material, so I want to be prepared for whatever might happen. So I am making my way through Monica's canon, but she's had a very long career, so slowly but surely.

- It's Wanda. It's all Wanda.
