A wanted 35-year-old Sparta man evaded Aylmer Police and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after an extensive search in Aylmer on Monday, April 19.

The man is wanted by several police agencies for outstanding criminal charges within their jurisdictions, said Aylmer Police Chief Zvonko Horvat. There are no public safety concerns at this time.

At about 4:22 p.m., Aylmer Police were advised of the man visiting an address on Sydenham Street East. Officers attended the area and observed a Mazda CX9 that was associated with the wanted male. He was seen on the sidewalk near the vehicle.

As an officer approached on foot, the man started to walk, then run away, resulting in a foot pursuit as he ran through yards and over fences.

“Officers lost sight of the male and OPP canine and emergency response unit was deployed to assist in the search, however the male was not located,” said Chief Horvat.

The police investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. The vehicle was seized as part of the investigation.
