Warm day on the way in southern Manitoba Saturday

It's going to be unseasonably warm today in southern Manitoba.

Sunny conditions are expected across southern Manitoba Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures in the mid 20s are expected for both days. Usually we're at 12 C this time of year.

"We could set some records!" CBC Manitoba meteorologist John Sauder says.

But that's just in the south.

Sauder says Churchill should see between five and 10 centimetres of snow Saturday. Freezing rain is possible in the far north, too — especially in places like Tadoule Lake and Brochet, Man., in the morning.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain advisory for Shamattawa, Gillam, Tadoule Lake and Thompson.

Winnipeg weather for Saturday

- High of 23 C

- Mainly sunny

- 82 per cent humidity

- Wind southwest 30 km/h

- UV index of 3 (or moderate)

A cold front will blow through southern Manitoba Sunday night, with wind gusting from 60 to 70 kilometres an hour into Monday morning.

Those winds should hold through the day.

"Temperatures Monday will struggle to reach 10 C," Sauder says. "We'll see clearing through the day following some morning showers."

Temperatures should rise again to the mid-teens Tuesday.
